Connecting Remotely

With the change from in-person meetings, it’s been a challenge to transfer the engagement that happens in those groups. But our managers have been trying something new! Across MHRI, different teams have been leveraging technology to bring their teams together for some fun. Below you can see some of the creative ways MHRI is staying connected!

The Cardiovascular CoreLab hosted a virtual holiday celebration back in December, using Slido for a trivia game.

The Human Factors team comes together once a month to connect for some much-needed wellbeing events, plus some fun outside events from home.

Our communications team includes some time in their monthly meetings to play a virtual game of Life or Clue, having a great time even when technical difficulties arise.

And I took it upon myself to personally host a chocolate tasting with MHRI senior leaders to celebrate the new year. We had a chocolatier join us to go through a chocolate tasting!

Take Care of Yourselves and Each Other

Below is my monthly message for the January 2021 edition of the MHRI newsletter, Focus. You can view Focus online at MedStarResearch.org/FOCUS.

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Happy New Year!  I hope everyone enjoyed some aspect of the holiday season and got some much-needed rest.

As busy as we all are, and as pressing as the issues we address each day, we need to recognize the importance of caring for ourselves, including the importance of down time. In that spirit, I am keeping this message short and to the point. I want to thank you for taking time each month to allow me to share my thoughts and reflections. I hope you find it stimulating, informative, or at least entertaining! We all look forward to the new year with renewed hope. As your chief scientific officer, I am especially excited that 2021 will prove to be the year that science will bring improved health to every persons’ life.

In 2021, we will advance health through remarkable science, technology, innovation, and implementation. I very much look forward to doing so with you.

Until then, stay safe and wear your mask!

With gratitude and appreciation,

Neil
